Now part of the collection of the Seattle Art Museum, the Thal Collection of Chinese Snuff Bottles contains an outstanding group of over 40 bottles of superb quality that reflect the owner's instinctive understanding of artistic design and natural form, enhanced by his solid experience in jewelry. It includes a fine carved porcelain bottle by Wang Bingrong, bottles of precious stones such as nephrite, jadeite, chalcedony, quartz and amber, and some of the most remarkable imperial overlay glass and inside-painted bottles by 19th century artists such as Ma Shaoxuan, Ding Erzhong, and Zhou Leyuan.
