Luntaya-acheiq
An Illustrated Book of Burmese Court Textiles
Punvasa Kunlabutr
Burmese court textiles are no less charming than textiles found in countries in the region and should be examined in greater detail. Besides the ancient Burmese textiles woven in the luntaya technique, we also find the acheiq motif adorning textiles which have been woven untilising other techniques, such as discontinnuous supplementary weft ( leq khauq), continuous supplementary weft ( phid lun ), damask, embroidery ( pen htoe), as being printed ( poung hnaik) or painted ( pan chi swe ) onto cloth.
