Modern Impressions
Japanese Prints from the Berman and Corazza Collections 1950-1980
Frank L. Chance
Centering around the movement known as sosaku hanga, or ?creative prints,? Japanese printmaking flourished in the decades following World War II. The sosaku hanga artists emphasized the individual production of prints, in contrast to the earlier collaborative model. Published in conjunction with an exhibition held at Ursinus College, this volume features 72 prints, mostly woodblocks, but also including other techniques. The core of the woodblocks were made by artists associated with the sosaku hanga movement, but there are also examples from later artists.
