This exhibition covers stone furniture form Han to Qing, illustrating the transition in the Chinese culture from mat level to chair. The earliest piece is a Han dynasty stone meditation platform, others include late pieces of Ming and Qing in the form of tables, stools, garden and plant stands, benches and drum stools. This is the first exhibition to present many variations of garden furture, however, some items such as drum-shaped pieces are actually bases of of pillars form the interior of a house.
