Porcelains with Cloisonne Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration
The Complete Collection of the Treasures of the Palace Museum, Beijing 39
Palace Museum, Beijing
This volume is devoted to porcelains with cloissone enamel decoration (falangcai) and famille rose decoration (fencai). There are 274 items illustarted, with 58% unpublished materials, 40 enamel pieces from Kangxi to Qianlong reigns, and 234 famille rose pieces from Kangxi to Xuangtong reigns. These two types of porcelains are especially influenced by western techniques and therefore numerous pieces have non-Chinese shapes, designs, and sometimes elaborate decorations. The essays discuss foreign influence and contribution to porcelain production in the Qing dynasty.
